Profile

Alexandros began his career as a photojournalist and continued with assignments, but also with personal work, focusing on the landscape, urban fabric, architectural photography, as well as portraits and consequently the human geography of cities.

The multi-year photo project he carried out on the subject of the former airport of “Elliniko” from 2007 to 2013, introduced him to a second phase of his artistic career.

Part of this work was acquired in 2014 by the Smithsonian National Air & Space Museum for its collection, and has also been presented at exhibitions and international festivals.

In 2016, Alexandros was invited by the Smithsonian Institution to represent his homeland, (Greece), and participate in a new photographic mission focusing on globalization, which will result in a permanent installation entitled “Faces of Our Planet”, as well as an exhibition that will travel internationally (2022-2023).

The transformation of the image into language, and the relationship between the two fields is the content of the research that Lambrovassilis started in 2012 with “Realities Of Information”, where he investigates the dynamic narrative relationship between images.

His works have been exhibited in group and solo exhibitions in Greece, the United States and China, as well as have received international awards (Critical Mass, CENTER’s Editor’s Choice Awards, International Photo Awards).

His work entitled “Hopes, Dreams & Hard Times” was presented at the Benaki Museum, in parallel with the publication of the catalog of the same title by the publications of Hestia and the Benaki Museum (2010).

Lambrovasilis has been a guest speaker at the NYU School of Professional Studies, and at Michigan State University. He is a member of the international board of the PointB organization, in New York.

He is also a professional musician having studied Percussion at the Athens Conservatory.
